Fishing in Arkansas

Let me start with this....

Father-son perfection. They are both so happy because we're in Arkansas.

For those of you who haven't had the privilege of driving down to my parents, this is where we spend most of our time, down by the lake. Swimming and fishing are the favorite past times here. Our children are drawn to the water. It makes everything more fun. We sit down by the lake, jump off the dock, swim in the little pool on the patio, ride in the boat, dump cups of water everywhere, fish, and fish some more.

Doesn't it look like the perfect spot to hang out?

My rough, tough Rexy.

Beautiful Hannah.

So back to fishing. There is an a HUGE desire to catch fish. The only problem is, they can't quite figure out how to hook them.

The will is definitely there, just trying to figure out the way!

There were only two things that my Quinton wanted to do, fish and fish and fish and fish and fish, oh and swim. He would ask any free moment if someone would take him fishing. He was pretty funny because what he really wanted to do was to cast. He was quite content just casting with a weight at the end. There is however tons of excitement when someone catches a fish. I think that there were about 5 fish caught the entire week. Papa, Dan and Joe were pretty disappointed.

Something that didn't matter with those 5 fish were the size. In reality, with the little kids, the smaller the fish the better. It meant that they could hold it, drop it and pass it around.

Papa and Dan took Quinton and Rex out on the boat and came back with a little guy.

Rex once again has no fear with slimy, icky things and quickly grabbed the fist to share it with us.

Poor little fishy.

Rex was also content hanging with the worms. He would pull out a long worm from Papa's bait box. And "love" it until it went limp. At one point Dan saw him playing patty cake with the worm, "roll it, pat it, put an R on it, put it in the oven for Rexy and wormy." We will be on a walk and he will spot an ant or a worm or something else crawling and grab it and bring it along with us. He's my bug and slimy guy. I adore him.

I'm pretty sure that Quinn was casting further then Dan and Papa on several occasions. It was unbelievable how good he was at casting. Hoping for better luck with fish the next time we try fishing. Regardless, my kids were totally content with just being with their Daddy and Papa with a pole in their hands. Thankful for my little fisher kiddos.
